Predator fishing expert Neville Fickling is having a blistering end to the season, landing this 19lb 2oz zander just a week after managing an 18lb 14oz specimen.
Fishing from the bank on his local river, he cast a 4oz roach on a float paternoster setup and was into a fish almost straight away. He was so shocked at the speed of the take that he didn’t bring his landing net down to the water’s edge.
When a big, spiky dorsal fin surfaced, he realised he’d made a mistake. However, Neville’s experience shone through as he chinned the fish that amazingly went 19lb 2oz, topping the PB he’s only just set.
