The biggest fish I have ever caught during a match was a common carp over 11 kilos during the Dutch National Feeder Competition. After I hooked the carp it nearly swum 3 pegs away, luckily for me I did not tangle up with the other anglers next to me and after a hectic 20 minutes I could land this absolutely beautiful fish!
BEST MATCH WEIGHT:
My biggest match weight was a combined weight of nearly 70 kilos from one of my favourite venues, the Ketelmeer.
I like all sorts of fishing, fishing the pole and feeder on natural venues is what I love to do. Fishing the waggler or slider is what I like the most, unfortunately there are not many match situations in which you can compete with these techniques, but if I can, it is what I like to do most.
The Ketelmeer, It is situated between the river IJssel and the big IJsselmeer. On big water systems like this you can never guess what you are going to catch on the day.
Winning as many matches as possible, but the main focus is doing well on the international side of match fishing, during European and World championships.
FAVOURITE ITEM OF TACKLE:
The Drennan Acolyte Pro Pole is one of my favourite bits of tackle. It is very stiff, light and very strong. You really need these key specifications when you fish a variety of venues – from still waters to hard flowing rivers – all around Europe with all kinds of challenges.
