John Hoyle has managed some excellent fish from the River Wharfe in North Yorkshire, including a personal best ide and barbel.

“The river had just started dropping from flood. I had a mission up and down the river and found two nice looking creases over gravel. I baited up with hemp and boilies and fished then alternatively for up to and hour and a half each.

“I fished size 8 Drennan Specimen Plus hooks to 10lb Gravel Braid with a semi-fixed open ended feeder rig.

“The PB ide was 6lb 2oz and the PB barbel was 7lb 13oz. I also managed some nice chub to 4lb 4oz.”
