“The 1st of my Winter leagues starts next week so Sunday we had a practice round on the Tydd section of the Middle Level Drain, where the 1st round will be held.

The midweek open on the same stretch produced a stunning winning weight of 153lb of Bream, so no wonder there were over 50 anglers fishing this practice round!  I drew an area well off where the bream had been being caught so I set out my stall out to catch whatever swims!

To cut a long story short, the bream didn’t feed in the favoured pegs and I managed to keep bites coming all day from an area no one fancied! I caught mainly perch with the odd small skimmer thrown in and went on to win the match with 19lb 4oz“
