Roger Hill 3lb 1oz Roach

Having lost a big roach at the net a few seasons ago, Roger Hill was certainly particularly pleased to land this superb roach of 3lb 1oz on a session just before the end of the river season.

Whilst he often fishes the Hampshire Avon, this season the roach fishing has declined slightly, so instead he headed to a different southern chalk stream. Having started the day on the float without a touch, he switched to a small cage feeder for the last half hour of his session.

Using a small piece of breakflake on a fine wire size 12 hook on a 3lb hooklink and feeding liquidised bread through the feeder, it wasn’t long before he had an indication on his 1oz quivertip. Lifting into the fish, he knew it was something good from the off, and not long later he slipped the net under the biggest roach he’s seen.

Well done Roger!
