An old split cane rod and centerpin reel is what Lionel Martin used on the River Thames to land two monster fish in the form of a 16lb 10oz barbel and 7lb 4oz chub.

The Slough-based angler netted the two specimens while on a boat fishing trip with his son Leigh. He tempted the fish using a Mainline Spicy Crab boilie fished on a size 8 wide gape hook tied to a braided hooklink.
