During a trip to a large Midlands gravel pit, Lee McManus endured stormy conditions before catching this 17lb 7oz bream.

Targeting a spot at the bottom of a slope at long-range with a corn hookbait, Lee followed his tried and tested approach of feeding tiny amounts, and introduced just a mixed handful of hemp, casters, corn and a few pellets. Having endured extremely strong winds during the early part of his session, it was on the day afterwards when the wind died off that he had a bite out of the blue during the day. It turned out to be Lee’s only bite of the session, but with it coming from such a fish, he certainly didn’t mind. A simple hair rig, using size 8 barbel hook and 15lb coated braid hooklink, did the job.
Well done Lee!
