A few seasons ago, we were inundated with reports of huge crucian carp from Johnsons Lake, Surrey. The venue even produced a British Record of 4lb 12oz for Julian Barnes, but over recent years, numerous anglers have reported that the crucian fishing has become more challenging.
However, on a recent return to the venue, Julian enjoyed an exceptional session, landing eight crucians including this fish of 4lb 3oz, plus another of 3lb 12oz. Additionally, 23 tench muscled in on the action Method feeder tactics were successful for Julian, who used a short hooklink and fake caster hookbait and baited lightly with hemp and casters.
