Rob Walton had a session to remember on the River Kennet when he banked himself this stunning 7lb 8oz Chub. Rob told us “This winter has been pretty hard going on the River Kennet, but with the temperatures briefly on the rise I had a small window offering perfect conditions.
Using a tactic that although widely used, isn’t often employed for chub these days – the maggot feeder. I favour a large feeder which I like to fish alongside a short four-inch hooklink. It’s a tactic I’ve had great success on in the past, landing numerous severn-pounders, but when I tell people about it, they often look at me like I’m a bit mad.”
