Ollie Jenkinson, from Biggleswade in Bedfordshire is just 14 years old and is another very promising young angler, this time following the specimen path!
The 3lb 10oz beauty above was caught from the River Ivel on a rubber jig style lure, retrieved really slowly. Ollie has met experienced and successful angler Dan Sales on the bank, and is plainly a very quick learner – as he’s added several other quality fish this season including another 3lber (below).
Ollie has been using a Mitchell Mag Pro 6ft drop shot rod with a Drennan FD 4000 reel loaded with 15 lb Gardener braid for his lure fishing. He’s also been developing his trotting skills, and having taken in a magazine feature by Paul Elt (another very successful specimen angler from Ollie’s area) tried out his recommended trotting rig using a Red Range Carp Waggler 12ft rod and incorporating 5lb Supplex.
