Tench Session Topped By Huge Carp

Andy Loble received an invite recently to fish a prolific tench venue some 200-miles away, without a blink of an eye his car was packed and he was on his way!

Andy located an area at about 60 yards, where he had seen a few fish roll. He baited the area with Hinders hemp, dead and live maggots, CC Moore Belachan stick mix, Hinders hemp oil and various additives. After all the commotion of baiting up, Andy managed one tench of 8lb 5oz.

It wasn’t until 5am on his second morning that things kicked off properly. He went on to land six tench up to 7lb 8oz. After every fish, he topped up the swim and after recasting, takes were instant.

“I struck into what felt like a good fish and called for help from my mate Dan. It eventually became apparent that it was not a tench, but a huge common carp – a personal best of 35lb 1oz,” said Andy.

All of Andy’s fish were taken on large Drennan Oval Blockend Feeders combined with a helicopter setup and an 8lb fluorocarbon hook link with dendrabaenas or Buoyant Maggots presented on a hair.
