Stu Walker’s Northern Mere Bream

Yorkshire’s Stuart Walker sent us this terrific picture of a double-figure Bream caught from a big 90-acre Northern Mere.

Stu spotted some rolling fish in the morning mist at around 70 yards range. After 20 minutes spodding bait he cast a Drennan 45g Flat Method Feeder baited with green Swim Stim Groundbait laced with pellets, hemp and dead maggots. Hookbait was a pellet tipped with plastic corn.

Stu tells us that the first bite came after just 1 minute – a new personal best 10lbs 14oz! The next 15 minutes were hectic with fish of 9lb 14oz and 8lbs 2oz coming to the net, but then the mere went dead for the rest of the day as the sun came out and the water went flat calm…

Stu and Bob Roberts have a brilliant new DVD set out (using lots of items of Drennan tackle!) – “Caught In the Act Part 3 & 4” for further details click here.
