Steve Hemingray travelled over to Merida In Spain recently, to take part in practice for the European Championships on the Guadiana River.  This interesting photo shows a mixture of Barbel and Carp caught on a Slider Float at 30m – 40m range.
For the Slider fishing Steve employed a Drennan Matchpro Float 14ft rod – which he described as having the perfect balance between having enough power to tame hard fighting fish at the net, yet enough forgiveness in the action so as not to rip the hooks out of the soft mouthed Carasios.  
Steve used 0.20mm (6lb) Supplex mainline to a matching 0.16mm (4lb) hooklength and a size 14 Carbon Feeder spade end hook.

Steve also caught a lot of fish pole fishing whilst there – we’ll bring you more details on that in a few days time.
