South Wales specimen hunter and writer Terry ‘Theo’ Theobald has been on the trail of big chub using simple trotting tactics and plenty of maggots.

Pictured above is one of Theo’s latest chub captures from Throop, using his favourite maggot hook for big chub, the Drennan Super Spade.

Theo is a bit of an expert on trotting for chub and has an excellent article on the subject in the March issue of Coarse Angling Today magazine – where he details his tackle and approach for fishing rivers such as the famous Dorset Stour and the Great Ouse.
