Conditions on the day were extremely hot and still at the Somerset venue for the 120 anglers, making sport on the day exceptionally challenging.

Simon drew Peg 135 on the prolific Campbell Lake and opted to fish pole and pellet down the margins, both short and long. Simon took 40 carp to weigh in 172-14-0 to finish top of a tight field. Simon also qualifies for the 2014 British Pole Championships on the back of his victory.

Scott Russell (Tackle UK) was runner-up from Peg 73 on Lodge. Scott began his match mugging early fish off the surface before switching to a long marginal swim with meat to end the day just a couple of carp shy with 159-8-0.

Third place on the day was taken by local rod, Roy Worth (Bait-Tech/Viaduct) from Peg 121 on Campbell. He fished bomb and pellet in the margins to finish with 120-1-0 and a Pole Championships place.

Good luck to Simon in the Mega Match This Final!
