On a very cold morning Ryan expected a struggle for bites, but having located a far bank slack and by switching from trotting bread to maggot hookbaits, he then caught six fine Chub including fish of 4lb 13oz, 4lb 7oz and 4lb 3oz!

Ryan used a Series 7 Float 9-30 reel loaded with 4lb 6oz mono, through to a 3AA Crystal Avon float and a size 18 Red Maggot hook.

 The rod Ryan was using ceased production in 2009 – but the current equivalent in the 2013 range is the Series 7 Silverfish Float 13ft.
