Drennan’s Paul Green went along to top Oxfordshire Commercial Match Fishery Rolf’s Lake to spectate and take photos at Gary Horne’s recent Private Invitation Match – and despite changeable weather captured a number of tremendous action photographs. You’ll all be able to enjoy a series of them here over the next few weeks! This amazing moment shows Drennan’s Robin Cave (who normally fishes for top local team Fox Match Isis) straining to bring a huge carp to the net.
Robin had hooked the fish on a piece of luncheon meat presented on a Kamasan B911 XS hook on a Supplex hooklength, and was using Drennan Polemaster Red (18-20) Carp Bungee on an Extra Strong Universal Top Kit to land the fish. This was a big, hard-fighting common in immaculate condition, and Rob could see it was close to 20lb – a truly formidable adversary in a match situation! A fish of this calibre on Pole tackle requires patience, skill and often a little luck; fortunately on this occasion Robin had all three to land the superb 18lb 9oz Common below, which helped him to an excellent weight of 96lb 1oz and 2nd place in the match.
