Over the past few years, Norfolk angler Robbie Northman has been on a quest to catch specimen chub, perch, zander, and pike all on lures, and with this 30lb 2oz croc, he finally completed it.
Fishing a bladed jig head and an 11cm shad on a stillwater, he’d landed a few small jacks before hitting into what he instantly knew was a huge fish. His rod doubled over, and a huge boil appeared on the surface.
After what Robbie describes as ‘one of the greatest fights’ of his life, he finally slipped the net under his first lure-caught thirty-pounder. It completes his set of a 7lb chub, 4lb perch, and double figure zander – all on lures.
Well done Robbie, that’s some achievement!!
