Rob Hall 12lb 14oz Zander

“What I reeled in was an absolute beauty, weighing in at an impressive 15lb 8oz..”

Worcestershire based angler Rob Hall had been relentlessly pursuing Zander for quite a while, turning into somewhat of an obsession for him. Rob explained “from the beginning of autumn until the season’s end, I dedicate all my fishing efforts to them. In recent seasons, I’ve predominantly focused my efforts on the Warwickshire Avon, where I’ve landed plenty of double-figure Zander. However, deep down, I knew that if I wanted to surpass my previous personal best of 12lb 4oz, I needed to explore the lower Severn more extensively.”
And that’s exactly what he did on a recent outing as he banked himself this lovely 15lb 8oz Zander. He told us “As I was diligently working on a video log for my YouTube channel focusing on Zander fishing, I found myself with only a handful of small catches from various stretches to showcase. Frustration was setting in. Then, a decision hung in the balance. I had plans to go out on a motorcycle ride with my wife, but when I noticed the weather forecast predicting rain, we made a last-minute call to opt for a fishing trip instead.

Interestingly, the last time my wife accompanied me on a fishing trip, I broke my personal best for Barbel not once, but twice during the same session. It seemed like she brought some good luck with her. Little did I know that this time around, her presence would prove to be just as fortunate. When I cast my line in the tidal section of the lower Severn that evening, I wasn’t really expecting to catch the fish id been chasing for the last few seasons. What I reeled in was an absolute beauty, weighing in at an impressive 15lb 8oz. It marked a new personal best and the exact calibre of Zander I had been relentlessly pursuing since I first began targeting them years ago.”

Well done Rob!!
