Coventry big fish angler Phil Smith caught this magnificent 7lb 2oz Chub recently from the Hampshire Avon, during the same trip as previously mentioned with John Found. The almost scale perfect ‘seven’ is the fourth over that weight of Phil’s illustrious angling career!

Phil used his well perfected inline maggot feeder tactics – using an adapted 50 gram Kamasan Black Cap feeder with a very short hooklink of Drennan Double Strength line to a size 18 Super Spade hook.  The fish was played very carefully and patiently to the net with the aid of a Drennan Medium Feeder rod, fitted with the 2oz tip.
