New Signings For Drennan Bordon

Manager Steve Barnett is pleased to announce two new signings to his talented Drennan Bordon team in the shape of Andy Quarmby and Justin Mabere.

On the two new recruits, Steve commented: “Both will be excellent additions and will add even more depth to the squad, bringing with them a wealth of experience and knowledge. Andy is a brilliant all rounder though has a preference for commercials, while Justin is a dab hand on natural venues. Both will no doubt be a credit to the team!”

Angler Files:

Name: Andrew Quarmby
Age: 34
Occupation:  Senior Process Engineer
Nickname: Pelletking
Best match weight: 377lb
Favourite Venues: River Swale, Upper Trent, Kennet & Avon, Rolfs Lake, Manor Farm Leisure
Favourite method:  Any method that gets bites, but particularly pellet shallow on the long pole
Greatest achievement: Top 4 finish in Manor Farm Leisure annual spring festival 4 years in a row.
Funniest moment:  Watching two guys on the Trent who had got their feeders tangled up playing each other thinking they had each hooked a huge barbel or something!

Name: Justin Mabere
Age: 42
Occupation: Business Analyst
Nickname: Jasper Maccabee
Best match weight: 145lb
Favourite Venues: Severn, Kennet & Avon, Gold Valley
Favourite method:  Long pole with bloodworm and joker, but I also enjoy fishing the stick float
Greatest achievement: Beating my angling hero Tom Pickering twice off the next peg in two major finals in 1989 at the age of 17!
Funniest moment: Hooking a fish caught by Bob Nudd and landing it! All I could hear was Bob telling the guy next to him that he had a proper fish on. It was only a 3lb carp! Bob noticed that I had landed his fish and I sportingly untangled my hooklength and let him reel it in. That fish won him the match so I can’t believe he never bought me a pint!
