Held on a difficult, rain-affected Birmingham-Fazeley Canal, the team of Mick Denton, Tom Hobbs, Tony Hobbs, Carl Eland, Matt Herbert, Jon Arthur, Steve Harwood, Martin Phipps, ‘Bubbles’ Head and Ian Young put together a solid team result. Their 204 points actually tied with silver medallists Matrix Halifax, who had a huge weight advantage aided by four of their anglers making the individual top 10!

Winners and local experts Black Country AS were a single point ahead on 205 points to claim the gold medal. Browning West Midlands and Drennan Northwest also made the top five and these teams now all gain promotion to Division One.

Big weights of skimmers dominated on the individual front and all eyes were on E Section at Forge Lane as three anglers in a row shared the winners’ podium with almost 40kg of bream between them! Ultimately it was Roger Abnett (Stoke on Trent AA) who took the overall honours with an impressive 14.87kg.
