Portsmouth’s Matt Tann with a really fabulous photo of a specimen Dace weighing 14oz caught trotting last weekend.
Matt has enjoyed a tremendous season this Winter fishing his famous local Wessex rivers – the Dorset Stour and Hampshire Avon, banking a succession of big Roach, Dace and Chub!
This latest specimen is actually Matt’s 5th Dace of 14oz or more of the Winter – which is a tremendous tally especially given the amount of disruption encountered with flooding & snow.
Matt’s landed the big Dace with his rod of choice this Winter; the Matchpro Ultralight 15ft, which has really aided float & line control on fast flows, and then helped both hook and land important fish with its crisp action and forgiving curve. A small 1 Swan Loafer, 3.2lb Floatfish line and a size 16 wide gape hook baited with maggot proved the successful set up.
