Martin Walker has enjoyed some spectacular barbel sport on the River Trent’s Gunthorpe Fishery on two sessions over a recent week, landing two seventeen-pounders and no shortage of back-up fish.

On his first trip, Martin was on the bank for 48 hours, during which time he landed 23 fish, 17 of which were ‘doubles’! The biggest was a specimen of 17lb 8oz, with boilies his successful hookbait. He returned six days later and this time decided to roll meat. After his first cast, Martin added a little more weight to his rig so he could roll his hookbait through more slowly, and on the very next cast hooked a powerful fish. That one weighed 17lb 15oz and capped a memorable spell of fishing.
Well done Martin!
