Midlands angler Mark Simmonds has got his pike fishing season off to a great start, landing a string of predators to over 20lb.
Targetting Midlands gravel pit, my first two sessions produced five pike including fish of 14lb 14oz, 19lb 10oz (pictured above) and the season’s best so far at 21lb 1oz taken just after dark.
All the fish were banked on legered dead baits using E-Sox Super Trace Pike Wire in 34lb which is highly regarded for its durability and kink resistance.
