Lee Tebble 17lb 3oz Barbel

On a trip to a flooded River Thames, Lee Tebble had a session to remember in which he landed not only a PB barbel of 17lb 3oz, but also a second fish of 14lb 10oz.

With flood warning in place, Lee headed for a swim where he knew he could fish safely, mindful that the river was a metre up on its average height for the time of year. Fishing a hair-rigged lump of curry flavoured Spam on strong tackle, Lee had the take from the seventeen-pounder first, with that bite coming at around 9pm.

He was delighted enough with that fish – a specimen that smashes his previous PB of 15lb 7oz which he had also caught from the Thames back in the autumn of 2014. An hour later, Lee landed the 14lb 10oz specimen, with both fish putting up a great fight in the powerful flow.

Well done Lee!
