Drennan Bordon’s Simon Kiefer looks back on a truly memorable weekend he has just fished.

“What a weekend I have just had! On Saturday I drew 135 on Cambell Lake on the Maver Match This qualifier at Viaduct Fishery. Early on I fished short with meat and long dobbing for carp in the first hour and caught a carp and two tench. All the while I was priming the margins towards the next platform with loose fed 6mm pellet and for the next four hours had 40 carp!

“I fished on and off bottom with a hair-rigged 8mm pellet, using a drennan AS2 float, 0.18mm line to a size 14 Drennan Margin Carp hook. My 172lb was enough to win and qualify for the Final!

“Still on a high from the day before, I fished the Avon Valley Summer League match at Broadlands Lake. Fishing the top four of my pole shallow with caster I caught 39lb of roach to win on the day. Both of our Drennan Bordon teams also came 1st and 2nd.

“A great weekend and I now can’t wait for the final!”
