Having enjoyed the session of a lifetime on the River Lea, Julian Barnes didn’t wait long before going one better, this time landing a 19lb 8oz barbel alongside others of 17lb 10oz and 13lb 1oz.
The nineteen-pounder is the biggest reported so far this season and follows hot on the heels of his brace reported just weeks earlier, in which he landed fish of 17lb 15oz and 16lb 7oz.Targeting the challenging yet iconic stretch at King’s Weir, Julian tempted his fish on a combi-rig fished with Madbaits BBB boilie hookbait. The very same stretch produced a British Record barbel late last season, not to mention a pile of other specimens. Judging by Julian’s catches, the Lea might be set for yet another memorable end to the season!
