Tamworth angler John Turner with a 15lb 10oz Barbel from the River Anker in the midlands (which we understand is a new river record), winning John a weekly Drennan Cup award in Angling Times!

With the river up and coloured, John fished a club run stretch and hooked the fish mid-river – with it then embarking on a series of powerful downstream runs. John used a size 8 Super Specialist hook baited with a pair of hair-rigged Quality Baits 12mm Halibut Pellets and Double Strength mainline.
