Joe Atkinson had an end of season to remember as he banked himself a new personal best chub, in the shape of this fine 7lb 12oz specimen.

He told us “With the season closing in, I was keen to go back down to the river to try my luck for another big chub. I had a few hours free after work and arrived at the river with conditions looking spot on, as it fined down after rain.
I settled into a swim and began feeding maggots, and 30 minutes later the float sailed away. Unfortunately, after an intense battle the hook pulled. I fed for another half-hour in the hope of another chance, but deep down I thought my chance was gone. But I had another bite, and this time landed a deep-bodied fish of 7lb 2oz. I fed again for 20 minutes, and when I recast, the float sailed under again. The fish made heavy surges for far-side snags, but my tackle held and I was relieved to net a PB of 7lb 12oz.”
Well done Joe!
