With the Thames finally settling down after floods, Jack Ashmead headed to the upper river in search of perch and landed this fish of 5lb, plus another of 4lb 2oz over two sessions at the end of the season.

Targeting a swim where there is a snag on the near margin, he fished two rods with sunken paternoster rigs and roach livebaits, pinned tight to the tree. His first fish was the four-pounder, but on the very last day of the season he went one better, landing the 5lb specimen. That fish measured 51cm in length and ends what has been an excellent year for perch catches on the Thames
Well done Jack!
