When Iain Mitchell set out to catch his first chub, any decent fish would have left him going home a happy man. So, you can imagine his shock when he landed this fish of 7lb 8oz as his very first of the species!
The trip was his first on a river in many years, with Iain heading to a southern waterway where he fished a lobworm below a feeder packed with chopped worms and soil. After casting out he had a savage take, with the fish diving under a boat moored opposite him. It then charged around at close range, even heading upstream at one point, before Iain netted his first chub. The friend he was with was in shock at the size of the fish, with Iain delighted to catch such a rare fish on his first attempt.Well done Iain!
