Gary Wright 17lb 12oz Barbel

Over the past few months, Gary Wright has found the Dorset Stour to be near impossible to fish, due to constant flooding. But, as the season drew in, it’s levels had started to drop, which, combined with a rise in water temperature, gave him a chance of a barbel.

Arriving to find the stretch still carrying lots of water, Gary fished just one rod and couldn’t believe it when the tip hooped over and landed a double-figure fish. Gary cast back out and had another take, although this fish felt much larger in the powerful flow. The fish made a few strong runs, pushing Gary’s tackle to the limit, before finally coming to the net. At 17lb 12oz, it was a great result after such a challenging season. Garlic flavoured boilies did the trick for both fish.

Well done Gary!
