Gary Taylor 3lb 3oz Roach

On a recent trip to the Hampshire Avon, Gary Taylor landed the roach of many anglers’ dreams after slipping the net under this 3lb 3oz fish.

Pleasure fishing on a Salisbury & District AC stretch with two other club members, Gary fished the stick float with maggots and had spent the day catching quality dace to 12oz.
As the light started to fade, he felt it was the right time to tempt one of the big roach he was after, and not long later he hooked a substantial fish. After working it upstream, the roach became snagged in some weed close in, but Gary was delighted to ease it free and eventually slip the net under the specimen.

Safe to say, he was elated when he saw the needle of his scales tip to 3lb 3oz, with the fish ending a 35-year wait to beat his roach PB.

Well done Gary!
