Gary Newman about to land a big Trout whilst trotting for Grayling with a Matchpro Ultralight 15ft rod.

These excellent photographs are taken from Gary’s brilliant Angling Adventures feature which appears in Anglers Mail every week, this one from a trip to the lovely River Itchen. Gary used Drennan Crystal Avon floats on 3lb Supplex line to Red Maggot Spade End hooks to nylon to present trotted maggots, taking some cracking Grayling to just under 2lb, plus several Trout.

“You can’t beat catching Grayling on the float, and I used my 15ft Matchpro Ultralight – when trotting an extra foot can make a difference when it comes to float control and striking” said Gary.
