Hans Molenaar opted to target a much shallower area than he normally would on a large Dutch water system in the hope of finding a true monster – and succeeded!

The biggest pike of the session (pictured above) weighed an impressive 34lb, which was taken on a large pollan dead bait. Fishing at long range using 2¼lb rods, Piker Braided Reel Line, and a trace consisting of 24lb E-Sox Super Trace Pike Wire and Extra Strong size 4 barbed Trebles.

“The take was very slow, but the fight that followed was immense, my rod was bent double! I’m just hoping the weather stays this way and hopefully a few more monsters like this will slide over my net.”
