Des Taylor’s Latest Big Severn Barbel

Another well-known midlands angler enjoying fine fishing on the River Severn already this season is Des Taylor. Des has really been enjoying a purple patch of form recently with specimen fish of various species – in fact he told us he’d be confident right now of catching fish upstairs in his bath!!

Fishing on an up and coloured stretch of the river near his home town of Bewdley, Des used Kamasan Black Cap feeder tactics with 4mm pellets and SBS pellet hookbaits hair-rigged on Drennan Super Specialist Barbel hooks. Striking at a small series of taps on his upstream rod, he was pleasantly surprised when the fish powered off upstream – “Then I knew it had to be something special” remarked Des – “Well worth sitting under an umbrella sheltering from the rain”.

A further big fish of 12lb followed, and then some smaller samples, to complete a really memorable session – Des being back home in the dry by 8.30pm.
