A trip to a large reservoir resulted in a superb brace of perch for former Drennan Cup winner Darran Goulder, who landed fish of 4lb 13oz and 4lb 3oz, plus one of 4lb 2oz later in the day.

His session started slowly, with no bites coming during the early part of the day. So Darran scaled down, going to 0.08mm braid and 0.14mm fluorocarbon leader, plus a shad in a natural colour due to the water being very clear. It wasn’t long until Darran’s fortunes changed, with him landing the 4lb 13oz fish – a new PB – plus the one of 4lb 3oz in consecutive casts.
Well done Darran!
