The fish was caught from the Dorset Stour on what had been a frustrating session.
Having started on casters, and feeding hemp and casters through a feeder, he had landed a fish of 6lb 5oz but lost three others, with his 16 hooks popping out as he tried to hold the fish from the sanctuary of a far-bank snag.
So, as dusk fell, Chris switched to a size 4 hook and a larger hookbait, and next time he had a take, he managed to bully the fish to safety. At 7lb 11oz, it blew him away and capped a special few months of chub fishing for Chris. What a way to end the season!
