Carl’s Mirror Carp from Partridge Lakes

Many thanks to Carl McCormack for sending us in this very nice photo of a mirror carp he caught recently at Partridge Lakes in Cheshire.

Spending the afternoon enjoying the Autumn sunshine, and making sure the new newly elasticated top kits were right, I hooked into this beastie.

Fishing the Willow Pool at Partridge Lakes, targeting the F1s, this 18lb mirror carp took a liking to a four mil expander pellet fished in two feet of water against the island margin using a 0.13 diameter hook length, to a size 16 Kamasan B911 hook, matched to a green Drennan Carp Bungee elastic.

After a lengthy battle, where the fish dropped into the deeper water and refused to budge, it took over 5 minutes of toing and frowing with my puller kit, but finally I managed to squeeze it into my landing net (just!). I can safely say the top kits were set up right!

Drennan Carp Bungee makes the perfect power-play shock absorber and helps to subdue big fish rapidly. For more information click here.
