Barbel On The Mega Method Feeder

Here’s another great underwater shot from Martin Bowler of a very underused barbel rig.

Martin is a big advocate of using a Method feeder for barbel, as it enables you to keep your hook bait tight to your feed and is a great tactic for powerful rivers such as the Wye.

It’s aerodynamic properties when loaded correctly using the Method Mould allows you to cast this rig with ease. As the hook is buried inside the feeder on the cast you can often get away with clipping any overhanging foliage, making it very useful when fishing tight to cover.

This photo also shows perfectly that by using half a boilie it falls like a cup, helping to partially conceal the hook from any wary whiskers!
