Barbel On A Faithful Classic

James Thomson has kindly sent in this great photo of a barbel caught on his faithful old 12ft 9in Drennan Tench Float rod and Red Range reel setup.

red-range-reel“I love my original Tench Float,” he explains. “It’s perfect for many a job! You’ll even notice that is one of your Red series reels!”

Although a great rod in its time, it has now been bettered by the Series 7 Tench & Specimen Float 13ft, which is ideal for subduing quality fish such as tench, chub and barbel on float gear. Combine it with a Red Range Float 6-30 or slightly larger Red Range Feeder 6-40 reel and you have a great-value and winning combination!
