For the last decade, Andrew Reynolds has been searching for one of the Dorset Stour’s huge barbel, and on a recent session landed this fish of 17lb 4oz.

The fish is the bigg’un from a stretch just three miles from his house, and one he often cycles to in the summer months. With mild conditions rolling in, Andrew felt it was worth paying the river a visit, with him arriving at 8am for a three-hour session to coincide with a high tide. The fish was the result of his only bite and fell to a 12mm Robin Red pellet fished alongside a PVA bag filled with halibut pellets and a few broken boilies. It beats Andrew’s previous best by over 5lb.
Well done Andrew!
