Adrian Eves 17lb 4oz Bream

Adrian Eves had been fishing a southern lake during the spring and early summer, but the lake had been particularly difficult with very few bream being caught. He returned back in early October with the hope that the bream would feed but unfortunately for him, they didn’t!

After several difficult sessions in what appeared to be excellent conditions (SW wind, mild and very low pressure) Adrian had only one 12lb bream to show for his efforts, but he decided to give it “one last go” despite the bright, still conditions and the first frosts of the winter.

He told us “A bream had been caught by a carp angler from an area the week before and so this seemed to be a good spot to start. I baited lightly with pellets and grubby groundbait plus maggots and a few boilies. At the business end, hookbaits were either corn or complex-T wafters fished on size 8 with tungsten line aligners on a 15lb hooklink. PVA bags [containing a mix of crushed Boilies, pellets, maggots etc) were then the order of the day

It turned out to be an incredibly productive session. It started with a 12lb 9oz bream before losing another but then an amazing run of big fish came – a 15lb 9oz, 16lb 3oz, 16lb, 16lb 8oz and then a 17lb 4oz. I rounded it off with another small specimen of around 13lbs. To catch 5 over 15lbs was incredible especially after the lake had been so unproductive all year and probably something I’ll never achieve again.”

Well done Adrian!
