Bright sunshine and low temperatures are far from ideal conditions for specimen fishing, but Adam Perna recently showed that, no matter the weather, there’s always a chance of a result with this perch of 4lb 15oz.

Fishing a large Midlands reservoir on a dazzling yet perishing day, Adam used dropshot tactics and, after heading to an area that has produced for him in the past, had a take on his second cast and struck into a solid fish. In the cold water, the perch didn’t put up much of a fight, but a magnificently marked and high bodied fish soon surfaced. With his scales wavering between 4lb 15oz and 5lb, Adam settled for the lower weight, with that giving him a new PB by an ounce. The rest of the day remained tricky, with just a single zander landed by his boat partner.
Well done Adam!
