It was back in 2013 when Adam Perna started fishing the fens for rudd, and after 12 years, he’s has just landed his first rudd over 3lb, in the shape of this 3lb 3oz fish.
Landed along a handful of other ‘twos’ that trip, the fish beat Adam’s previous best by 7oz and is the latest in a string of exceptional fish to be reported from the region since the start of the season. Adam’s session started at dusk, when he set off on an Anglian river in his inflatable boat. Fishing until 2am, he landed numerous rudd to over 2lb using a waggler fitted with a starlight. Adam then moved to another area where he’d fish from the bank, and starting at 3:45am, fished for six hours until temperatures soared. Just before the wind picked up and he called it a day, he managed to sneak out the biggest fish of his session – the 3lb 3oz specimen. A simple crystal waggler fished with a slow sinking bread flake hookbait did the trick.
Well done Adam!
