Patrick Heck from Germany has been banking a few fish with the help of his 12ft Series 7 Specialist Avon Quiver 1.75lb.

“It’s my favourite rod in rivers and stillwater,” he tells us. “I have spent the last two days at the River Donau, trying to catch big barbel, but their mouths seem to be closed for summer. But, I’ve caught some nice chub on pellets. Two big ones weighing 2.4 kg. They looked like twins!

“The rods are strong enough to fight big barbel and carp, but not without enough soul for smaller fish.”

Patrick caught the chub using a combi rig and 12lb Sinking Braid to a size 10 Drennan Barbel hook with two 8mm red shrimp halibut pellets.
