Having fished the lake the weekend prior for tench, Andy noticed that a few large bream showing, so on his next trip he changed tactics to target the species. After feeding a bed of corn and pellets, Andy cast Method feeders and wafter hookbaits over the top.

On the first night of his session, he was stirred by a single bleep on his alarms and, as he stepped out of his bivvy, his right-hand rod ripped off.

Expecting the fish to be a tench after the aggressive take, Andy played it quickly into the shallows. However, in the light of his head torch, Andy realised he had hooked his target species, and a large one too. With the fish weighing 16lb 9oz, the buzz of the capture kept Andy awake for the rest of the night.
