This winter, Ian Coulson has had a tough season in search of river pike, with flooding wiping out much of the fishing. But, just before the close season arrived, Ian managed an after-work session on the River Witham in Lincoln, in which he landed this 32lb 12oz pike.
It’s his first thirty-pounder and fell to an oiled mackerel tail presented on a simple running rig. The capture was witnessed by half a dozen anglers on the bank, and what made it extra special was that he was able to share the moment with his family and young son, who came down to see the fish.
