Luke Miller 5lb 1oz Perch

After years of effort, Luke Miller was rewarded with one of angling’s ultimate prizes – a river perch weighing an ounce over the five-pound mark at the end of the season.

Caught from the River Thames, he had the fish on dropshot tactics, with it the result of many early starts and heavy mileage, both on he and his van. It measured 48cm and, when it rose to the surface, Luke was left in awe. Once in the net, he looked at it in silence – totally stunned by its scale.

For Luke, this capture was particularly special as, three years ago he suffered with his mental health. Although he didn’t want to go out, Luke pushed himself to get back into fishing, and he admits that, if it wasn’t for angling and the support of his family, he would likely still be stuck in a hole. Luke is proud of what he has achieved, with this fish a just reward for his hard work.

Well done Luke!
